Club visitation in Cavite, Philippines

GREETINGS FROM THE PHILIPPINES!

Since I am here in the Philippines, I thought of visiting a club here near to my residence and the club that happens to have a meeting or an event is the Cavite City Lions Club, MJF headed by Leo Lion Jhomar Bartolome. The club is one of the 111 clubs in District 301A2. For your information, Cavite is a fast-growing province in the Philippines that is located south of Manila. I live in one of the towns, Kawit, (an urban municipality in the province of Cavite) and Cavite City is near, only about7 miles, but because of traffic and rains, it took me 45 minutes to get there. On that day, the club is going to have Cataract Screening and Vision Check-up in another town, Dasmarinas City. It is not so far but with traffic and rains, it takes about at least an hour to get to the Wellcare clinic. When we arrived, there were at least 100 indigent patients patiently waiting for their turn to have a checkup. Lion member, Dr. James Su-Ming, an ophthalmologist, operates for free patients screened by their club. Most of the patients are there for cataract screening and some are follow-ups after the free operation made by Lion Dr. James. This club does great service to the people in need. Not many can afford to pay for surgery and medications for their eyes.

It feels fulfilling to see how Lions Club can serve those who are in need. "Serve with a Grateful Heart!" as they say.

The president, Leo Lion Jhomar, dedicates his whole life serving as Lions for over 20 years. He started as a Leo, became a Lion and now with life partner and kids who are also involved with Lions. The wife is a Lion, too, and his kids are Lion Alpha, Lion Omega, Lion Cub. With me in the picture and In the poster that Leo Lion Jhomar created, is Lion Cynthia Abellar, PMJF, District Vision Chairperson. She is a Lion for over 30 years.

It is amazing how these Lions dedicate their lives to serve. It is a very fulfilling experience for me.
